On April 1st, Chen Zhu, the ministry of the Ministry of Public Health and Jiang Dingzhi, the governor of Hainan Province attended the Boao Asian Forum 2012 and signed the Cooperation Agreement on Building-Up International Medical and Health Services of Tourist Island in Boao, Hainan to give full play to its advantage of special economic zone and explore the new approach to speed up medical and health services of the international tourist island.

In accordance with the agreement, the Ministry of Public Health and Hainan Province will strengthen their cooperation in building up medical special demonstration zone on the international tourist island. It intends to provide preferential policies for foreign high-quality medical resource; actively attract and utilize outside high-end medical technology, medical devices and medical professionals; introduce well-known foreign international organizations of chronic disease management; promote the construction of Hainan Wanquan Lecheng International Medical Tourist Pioneer Region. Finally, it will be built into an international medical exchange platform for high-end medical pioneer region, demonstration region and health talents gathering region as well the Hainan tourist reform innovation laboratory area.

It proposes to support and guide capitals in various forms and institutions to participate in the construction of Medical tourism industry in Hainan; support bio-medicine, medical supplies, medical equipments, health management and other industries to promote the medical tourism development of Chinese medicine in Hainan; build up two provincial-level health care bases in Haikou and Sanya as well as three regional medical centers in Danzhou, Qionghai and Wuzhishan; speed up the construction of Hainan Provincial Cardiovascular Special Hospital, Provincial Oncology Hospital, Provincial Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Hospital, Provincial Oral Medical Center, Provincial Maternity and Child Care Hospital, Provincial Tuberculosis Hospital and Provincial Mental Health Center.
