HIV/AIDS Projects of China's Global Fund Will Be Discontinued in Advance

February 22, 2012 The bulletin of the Ministry of Public Health showed that the AIDS project in Phase 2 of China's Global Fund will be stopped early. The tuberculosis and malaria project also will be discontinued next year and this year in advance, respectively. It will involve a number of $1 billion funds of prevention and control. The Ministry of Public Health said that the 25th board meeting of Global Foundation for AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria was hold in Ghana last December and made decision that from January 2012 the approved projects of the high-income countries among groups of 20 member countries would be discontinued whose disease burden was below the "extreme severe level" The Executive Secretary of the secretariat of China’s Global Fund CCM, Li Dafei confirmed on January 30th that China was one of the affected countries by the "threshold". pd:February 22, 2012 | md:February 22, 2012
