China Will Train 3,000 Chief Health Supervisors

January 11, 2012 The Ministry of Public Health has recently printed and distributed the 2011-2015 National Health Supervisor Training Planning(hereinafter referred to as “Planning”). In accordance with the Planning, not less than 60 national public health supervision experts as well as 3000 provincial and district chief health supervisors will finish their training by the end of 2015. Planning requires that the Ministry of Public Health should organize the training for national health supervision experts and gradually establish a national health supervision expert bank, which will provide technical guidance for national food security and health supervision. The national and provincial Ministry of Public Health should be responsible for organizing the training for provincial and district chief health supervisors, respectively. One chief health supervisor should be selected from each health supervision agency involving in principle food safety, occupational health, radiation health and public health, respectively. They should provide business guidance for professional law enforcement, social consultancy, propaganda and education in their own domains. Health administrative departments at all levels should periodically assess the chief health supervisors for dynamic management. In addition, local health administrative departments above provincial and county level should organize the training for scarce health supervision talents and grass-roots compound health supervision personnel, respectively. More than 3000 scarce health supervision talents will be trained for provincial and municipal health supervision agencies, and 5000 for district and county-level health supervision agencies by the end of 2015. It intends to train not less than 35,000 grass-roots compound health supervision talents proficient in using modern information technology with multi-professional knowledge and law enforcement ability, who can implement the health supervision and law enforcement, provide business and technical guidance for the health supervision assistant staffs. According to the requirements of Planning, 12 to 15 national health supervision training bases will be set up by the end of 2015, which should focus on the training for national health supervision experts and chief health supervisors. Provincial (district, municipal) health supervisors training bases should be built in accordance with work requirements, where mainly take on the training task for scarce health supervision talents, grass-roots compound health supervision personnel and new health supervisors. pd:December 30, 2011 | md:February 20, 2012
