Recently, “Application Demonstration Project of Domestic Innovative Medical Devices” sponsored jointly by Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Public Health has been officially initiated. Mr. Wang Weizhong, the vice-minister of Ministry of Science & Technology; Mr. Liu Qian, the vice-minister of Ministry of Health; and Tong Xiaoping, the deputy mayor of Chongqing city, participated in the launch ceremony.

This project took “Innovation & Development for all the people” as the purpose. At the end of “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, they will strive to use 10,000 sets of domestic innovative medical devices in 1,000 pilot medical institutions of 100 counties and districts in 10 provinces throughout the country. So it is also called “Ten-Hundred-Thousand-Ten thousand Project”. According to reports, it will focus on carrying out four tasks: 1. Pilot application of a batch of innovative products to promote the rational distribution of medical resource; 2. to explore a new type assessment system and perfect the medical device industry innovation chain; 3. to optimize the application environment in order to promote the good development of domestic medical device industry; 4.to establish a new type service mode and perfect the medical device operational support system.

In this activity, the first 1100 sets of domestic innovated medical devices from more than 60 medical device companies, which owned the independent intellectual property rights and a total value of nearly RMB 70.00 million, will be successively allocated for free to the primary medical institutions in all districts & counties, villages & towns and communities for trial. After launching the project, the first trial batch of selected domestic medical device products applicable for the primary medical institutions will be successively disposed to 10 provinces and cities, such as Zhejiang, Sichuan, Liaoning, Qinghai and Jiangxi, etc for trial to optimize the allocation level of primary medical institutions.

During the startup ceremony, a series of activities were simultaneously organized, such as “Domestic Innovated Medical Device Products Exhibition” and “Medical Device Industry Innovation Development Forum”.
