Recently, in the city future house of World Expo Shanghai, there appears an electronic TCM, which could look, listen, ask, touch and prescribe just as a real doctor. However, the “doctor”, which is good at diagnosis with hanging wire, is a payback for more than 30 years of unremitting efforts of several generations of experts in Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And then it will completely refresh the scene of "an old man, three fingers" in TCM.

The machine is an intelligent diagnosis system that mimics four traditional diagnostic methods of TCM. After the diagnosis, it can integrate the information. In a word, it is an achievement shared by both of modern science & technology and traditional Chinese medicine. A sensor in a round hole of the machine will automatically search for the pulse of the person who put his hand into it, similar to palpation. Another hole is used to collect information from one’s face and tongue. Besides, a big screen in the “doctor” will display a series of questions as inquiry. Finally, based on the computer-aided interpreted information from face, tongue, pulse and inquiry, the “doctor” will give the person healthy prescription medicine.

For the "human-computer consultation" model, it is quite beneficial for the young doctor who is lack of experience. It can provide the information including mechanism, principle, prescription and drugs. Also thousands of classic recipe in the system are  convenient for the young to prescribe. In addition, the system can be used in the classroom teaching and distance learning.

In the near future, people may use the intelligence system at home and obtain daily healthy living tips. With the help of this technology, a convenient smaller sensor can be developed to monitor people’s health at any time.
