Edited by Sharon Lai
July 06, 2010 Recently, Professor Zhang Jichuan, from Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center of Tsinghua University, said that, cooperating with Beijing Rui Haibo Co., Ltd, he developed a gait machine for the paraplegia. After the improvement and trial production, the machine now can be successfully used in clinical trials and has a mature technology in production. According to reports, two patents has been applied for to protect the core technology. Anyhow, there are broad market prospects for the product. Furthermore, Professor Zhang gave some details about the gait machine. The gait machine is the equipment for the paraplegia in walking and rehabilitation training. Especially, it is useful for patients with only lower limb paraplegia. Because of the innovative design, similar reports haven’t yet seen in the worldwide. In detail, only a small motor can drive the whole leg on each side of the machine, and normal walking gait alternating can be simulated. What’s more, the speed can be adjusted. In addition, a self-locking function, used in the failure situation of control system, is designed to ensure the safety of users, and it can be unlocked to achieve natural posture. Professor Zhang said there was a potential to be as an alternative for import and export products. For the further improvement of performance, stabilization of quality, mass process, as well as price advantage, it is quite competitive in the international market. pd:July 06, 2010 | md:July 06, 2010
