Medical device Park starts in Wuhan Optical Valley

July 05, 2010 Recently, Medical device Park in which Wuhan Hi-Tech Group invested started in Kowloon industrial base. Meanwhile, the field of projects such as reproductive health and family planning in the park were awarded the title of the first national industrial base. Then a number of medical device industry giants, such as Siemens and GE, investigated the park. As reported, the park has an area of 1761 acres. With a total investment of 3.0 billion, the construction will complete in 4 years. Resulting from the first national reproductive health industry base in Wuhan, it will enjoy a series of preferential policies. For field trips, Siemens and GE also attended the breaking ceremony. Zhang Zhiyong, general manager of Hi-Tech medical devices Park, said that there were 32 Small and medium enterprises on the field of medical device intending to finalize the admission into the park. Dan Changchun, deputy director of East Lake High-tech Zone Administrative Committee, said that the current market occupation ratio of drugs and devices in abroad pharmaceutical industry was 1:1, while domestic ratio was only 1:0.3. In China, Mindray, the largest medical device producer had an annual output of 30 million. However, it was far less than the output of international industry giants such as Siemens. It was indicated that there was a good prospect in developing medical device industry in China.
