Sep.11, more than 10 multinational companies such as Roche (Switzerland), Wellcome (U.K.), Johnson & Johnson ( U.S.A.) and MIKI (Japan) signed procurement agreements of Annual Procurement Agreement for 2010 with Family of Health, more than 1300 kinds products were involved in the agreements, including glucometer, sphygmomanometer, oxygenerator, wheelchair and medical ventilator etc.  

Bai Yu, board chairman of Family of Health, introduced that the total sum involved in the agreement which is signed between multinational brands of glucometer and rehabilitation center reached 15 million yuan. Invacare Co., America’s largest home medical device manufacturer reaped more than 50% of monthly increase after the company signed a procurement agreement with the rehabilitation center on April in 2008. 

"China is entering an aging society and China’s elderly population aged over 60 accounts for about 12% of the total population up to the end of 2008, introduced by He Miao, manager of Beijing office of MIKI, home medical device will maintain a rapid growth in future market." In 2008, the market share of home medical electronic products (such as sphygmomanometer, glucometer, hearing aid and thermometer) reached 8.3 billion yuan and its market recombination rate was 28% which is expected to reach 10.5 billion yuan this year.  

At present, Family of Health has developed more than 40 chain institutes in some large or medium cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Tianjing etc. the sales of products such as wheelchair, oxygenerator and nursing bed rank first in the country now; it is expected that the sale of glucometer will also keep ahead in China in the near future. Sale income of the company in the first half of this year increased by 60% comparing with the same period of last year and the sale of this year is expected to break through 110 million yuan.    

It is understood that, except for medical devices chain institute such as Family of Health, drug store also share a lot in the home medical market; in addition, electrical appliance sale terminals such as Gome and Suning etc compete for home medical device market. At the same time, some foreign medical device manufacturers have already expanded their business into Chinese market. "In recent year, Bai Yu introduced, home medical device market has become more attractive for venture capital; nowadays rehabilitation center has been obtained part of Growth Fund support."   

Analysts believe that Chinese home medical device market is expected to meet a significant growth, moreover, market competition between manufacturers and suppliers is moving towards intense in the near future. Therefore, part of domestic medical device manufacturers likely diverts themselves to home medical equipment markets for further development.
