The Development of Anesthesia Machine in China

With the fast growth of national economy, China medical devices, especially the independent developed ones have developed dramatically and seen big progress in terms of product quality and clinical application, receiving great attention from purchasers and users around the world. Anesthesia machine is the main device in operating room. In China, the anesthesia machine is really developed from 1990s. Till now, there are many professional manufacturers such as Beijing Aerospace Changfeng Co., Ltd., Beijing Aeonmed Co., Ltd., Beijing Kaitai Medical Device Co., Ltd., Shanghai Medical Instruments Co., Ltd.

In 21st century, with the rapid development of network technology, microelectronic technology and precision process technology as well as the increased clinical application demand, China’s anesthesia machine has developed into a new stage. The development of anesthesia machine presents several trends below:

1. Whole Machine Design Concept

In addition, they improve anesthesia information management system to connect with all the bed-side devices, HIS and CIS, enabling all the data, list and trend monitored in perioperative period to be recorded automatically, and stored or transferred via network to provide good hardware platform for realizing digital operating room.

2. High Precision Anesthetic Vaporizer Technology

Anesthetic vaporizer is the key part of anesthesia machine, the key technology is how to realize accurate flow, temperature and pressure compensation to ensure the accuracy and stability of the anesthetic consistency. 3. Flow Sensor and Precision Flow Meter Technology

Flow sensor is the key part of anesthesia machine that will affect the function and quality of anesthesia machine, and has high requirement for relative velocity, measurement precision, consistency and stability. Turbo type sensor is gradually replaced by thermal mass sensor and differential pressure sensor due to response time, precision, stability and other reasons. Beijing Aerospace Changfeng’s latest anesthesia machine adopts thermal mass flow sensor and resolve the measurement precision issue of low-flow anesthesia machine, realizing dynamic tidal volume adjustment function. It also adds basic air flow function in flow meter technology, achieving stable oxygen-giggle gas ration and increasing the safety of anesthesia machine.

Beijing Wandong Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. newly launched CGO-2100 angiography intervention treatment system, which adopts advanced dynamic direct digital angiography technology and modular design concept for network, and achieves breakthrough in integrated control, image collection and process and intelligent operation aspects such as auto resilience optimization registration, auto image process, blood vessel path tracking, real-time digital light chopper, auto blood vessel border identification, perspective loop storage and etc. It can complete the interventional examination and treatment operations in various fields including heart vessels, cerebral vessels and peripheral vessels.

4. Carbon Dioxide Absorber Technology

Carbon dioxide absorber is the key part of anesthesia machine that will affect the safety, compliance and amenity of patients. Through independent development, China’s current anesthesia machine manufacturers provide precision pressure adjustment, fast-response exhale and inhale valve to realize the fast change of absorbent during operation. Their anesthesia machines feature large loading capacity, low vapor lock and high air tightness, and enable tight, semi-tight and open operation as well as airway pressure monitoring function.

5. Monitoring Technology

With the continuous update and improvement of clinical requirement, anesthesia machine has intuitive user-friendly interface, integrating all basic monitoring and control function to display dynamic respiratory wave and complete alarm parameters. Monitoring technology tends to be the monitoring technology of breathing machines.

6. System Integration Technology

Anesthesia machine requires solid and flexible structure design, able to integrate various bed-side devices such as monitor, anesthesia information system, anelocator, muscular relaxation monitor, anesthesia gas monitor, End-tidal carbon dioxide monitor and injection pump to maximally meet the clinical requirements.
